    During each one-hour session children will learn about chess, play chess, and have some fun along the way! Beginners will learn game fundamentals and experienced players will learn strategies and tactics necessary for successful game play. Each session will be divided between instruction and supervised game play.

    200200 - Coding: Intro. to Video Game Design

    This program is for anyone who loves gaming and wants to design and build original games. The course will provide a solid foundation in the essentials of game design. Students will code their own video games or stories using Scratch Platform, a block-based coding language. Students will design the stage, characters, create the game or story and write the code to bring it all together. After learning about game genres, students learn about all aspects of the game-design process. From there, it's on to a series of increasingly challenging hands-on projects that teach all the elements of successful game development.
    No previous experience required.
    Students will need to know their district username & password to be able to log-on the computers.

    201200 - Learn-To-Swim

    The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program is an instructional program to help students gain confidence in the water and learn proper swimming techniques. Staff includes certified Water Safety Instructors, Lifeguard instructors and Swim instructor assistants. The five-level program is designed to progress students through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. *Each swim session is forty minutes long.*Pool temperature usually set between 80-82 degrees.

    Get ready for robotics! Bricks 4 Kidz® LEGO Robotics program takes students through a science-filled adventure building robots that crawl, drive, launch, race and much more! This is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® Bricks. Each class begins with a instructor-led discussion related to the model of the day. Students build a new project each week. While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Once the project is complete, children use the rest of their time to modify their model builds and collaborate with one another. All materials are provided.

    201400 - MathPlay

    Play and learn! Math is Fun! MathPlay is an instructional program to help students develop their interests in Math, enhance their problem solving skills, and understand Math concepts from different angles by playing various Math games (such as Hanoi Tower, Calculating 24, Sudoku, 21 points, Rubik’s Cube, etc.) and solving different Math problems either individually or in small groups. Students will have a lot of fun, at the same time, gradually build up their confidence in Math and further inspire their potentials. Each class will begin with instructor-led discussion about the Math game, rules, Math concepts, and group settings. After that, students will work closely with the instructor and familiar themselves with the games of the day and then compete by groups if time allowed.

    202100 - Self-Defense Program

    This Self-Defense-MMA program is a fun and challenging mixed martial arts program for boys & girls. The program is designed to incorporate a variety of martial arts allowing students to learn technique while teaching them how to avoid and/or defend themselves in potentially dangerous situations. In addition to the physical benefits of training, our program offers a friendly, safe and fun environment designed to instill confidence, discipline and character. Students have an opportunity to grow in degree of self-defense & MMA and earn certificates/belt colors. Each 45-minute class is tailored to address the specific fitness level of each student. Sessions will be taught by Grandmaster Gerry Kushmakov & staff. www.mastergerry.com
    Program fee includes ceremony. Our talented students will have an opportunity to earn a belt/degree in Self Defense. The ceremony includes belt, certificate and wood breaking experience.

    204010 - Table Tennis

    This program is designed for students who want to learn, improve and potentially compete in tournaments. The program will include footwork, forehand & backhand techniques. Training will be in a positive atmosphere with the emphasis on improvement and is suitable for beginner and intermediate players.
    Equipment: All students are expected to bring a high quality paddle. High Quality Paddles are available for purchase from the Coach.
    Coach Fei-Ming Tong is a former 5th in the world ranked ITTF International Champion and Olympic Competitor. She has US and international table tennis coaching experiences and is trained to teach table tennis in a constructive environment that promotes fitness, agility, self-esteem, strategic thinking, team work and fair play.

    Students will engage in an instructional wrestling program where they will learn basic and effective wrestling techniques and strategies. Practices will consist of warm-ups, technique, drilling, live wrestling and conditioning. Instructors include current and former Great Neck wrestlers and coaches. Registered Students will receive an “Outlaws” t-shirt.
    Recommended equipment/clothing: Water bottle, t-shirt, shorts or sweat pants, wrestling shoes or sweat socks, (Optional: headgear and mouth piece).
